Dog glucosamine is a food supplement commonly used to treat arthritis and hip dysplasia in dogs and it usually works very well. Your dog’s joints and ligaments are often affected by age. This often results in pain and mobility problems. As a consequence, your dog becomes less active and this can result in other health issues caused by the lack of exercise.

Glucosamine is an excellent dietary supplement and dogs usually respond very well to it, especially bigger dogs. It can be really beneficial to their overall health and it’ll save you a lot of trouble like a dog owner. Dogs that go through from arthritis, 1 in the most common dog ailments, are often in a lot of suffering. Dog glucosamine can be effectively used to ease their ache and help to make them feel good and stronger. So, give your ailing pet dog glucosamine if you really want your dog to keep enjoying life even at an old age.

Glucosamine is actually a natural compound normally found in healthy cartilage and synovial fluid. It is actually essential for having healthy cartilage and even more so for repairing affected cartilage. So, if you happen to notice any of the signs of arthritis in your dog, you’d better talk to a vet regarding glucosamine supplements.

There are several dog glucosamine products on the market (both liquids and pills). Make sure you select the best – when choosing consider your dog’s breed and their specific needs. You should also consult a vet before giving your dog any dietary supplements. Sometimes is better to give your dog glucosamine as a preventive measure, before actually experiencing any joint problems – it will keep your dog healthy and active. It’s also sometimes recommended to give your dog a bigger dosage in the first few weeks, so that the pain would go away sooner.

A good dog glucosamine supplement will allow your old dog to run and play like a young puppy. Their energy levels will go up in no time and your dog will be happy once again. So, at any sign of pain, make sure you give your pet dog glucosamine.

What do you know about canine hip dysplasia? It is a skeletal disorder suffered by the canine when the ball and socket of his hips are not perfectly fitted together. Sometimes, the reason for this is also is because the tissue that binds the ball and socket are not strong enough. We can only imagine what a painful experience even regular movement can be for the dog.

Sometimes hip dysplasia is caused when a puppy gets injured in his legs and did not receive the proper medical attention. Oftentimes though, it is a genetic ailment that develops as the puppy matures. When the canine is not given the appropriate treatment at the right time, sometimes he will not be able to walk at all.

Does this seem scary? It’s a sad fact for some dogs but there are options to help you deal with it. Surgery is used to correct physical deformities of your pet’s skeletal structure. The thing is, surgery itself might be a bit too costly; not to mention the hospital visits and maintenance. Now, don’t feel bad if this is you. You can use a natural treatment for hip dysplasia that many pet owners have availed of successfully.

Chondroitin and Glucosamine are two supplements that aid in the restoration of the joint and cartilage tissues of dogs. While these natural elements are not pain killers, you will be happy to know that consistently using it will show a marked improvement in your dog after about 6 weeks. There are only a few known side effects of Glucosamine and Chondroitin; but your dog will have to be on these for the rest of his life.

Methyl-Sulfonyl-Methane or MSM is a compound that will enhance the connective tissues and reduce joint inflammation which is the common cause for arthritis pain. Herbs like rosemary, licorice, yucca, alfalfa and dandelion are also helpful in easing the painful effects that this condition brings.

Along with the natural treatment for hip dysplasia as mentioned in the previous paragraphs, create a healthy diet chock-full of vitamins C and E, and omega 3 fatty acids. It is essential that you control his weight as obesity will aggravate your pets condition. Integrate their healthy food plan with light exercise that is approved and recommended by the veterinarian.

Physical activity should be relegated to exercises that are light on the joints and ligaments of the dog. This means Frisbee is out of the question. It’s fun but really, it will not be good for your pet in the long run. Try taking him for a walk or swim instead. Remember that the goal is not just building muscles and stamina, it is to develop more range of motions. The best thing you can do for him is to keep his weight low and his autoimmune system up.

I hope you gleaned a lot of helpful information about canine hip dysplasia for you to be able to help your dog effectively. Do what you can to keep your pet as healthy as possible and enjoy the best years of his life when you do.

A safe and effective natural treatment for hip dysplasia is invaluable for the suffering canine and his worried pet owner. Discover more about canine hip dysplasia in this premier website that answers all your pet-care worries HealthyHappyDogs.com as you learn from the experts!

The requirement of healthy food seems to apply equally to humans and their pets, because many pet owners prefer to buy organic foods to feed man’s best friend. One could be forgiven for being surprised at the large amount of organic dog food available on the market. Just like for humans, there are many of pet health issues that one could cure or even prevent in the first place by the use of organic pet food.

For example, organic dog food could reduce the risk of the pet getting skin diseases and allergies. The explanation for the positive health effects is the absence of additives, chemicals, colourants and pesticides. Instead there are just grain extracts and high quality proteins for ingredients in organic dog food. Organic dog food also provides more nourishment, which is reflected in the higher levels of energy and the normal weight of the pet.

Regular dog food often causes diabetes and excess weight with all the concomitant problems that accompany these illnesses: back ailment, organ failure and decreased mobility. How can organic dog food help here? Well, organic food items for pets do not contain bulk fillers, they are nutrient-packed products that create energy not fat deposits. Moreover, it is best and a lot easier to prevent health issues than to try to cure them afterwards.

A more efficient digestion and a stronger immunity system are the other main benefits that come with the use of organic pet food. Due to the absence of chemicals usually mixed in ordinary pet food, your dog will no longer vomit or experience wind or diarrhea. A more efficient is what will result from a healthy diet. Moreover, the quality of the nutritional substances in organic dog food, enhances the immunity functions, thereby reducing the risks of infection and all sorts of specific diseases that affect dogs on a routine basis.

Many veterinarian experts claim that organic dog food significantly increases the life span of any animal, not to mention the fact that it will go through old age a lot better. It is quite common that pet owners who choose organic dog food, are also interested in applying the same health rules to their own diet, sticking to clean natural products that enhance bodily functions and avoid toxins and disease.

Ask your dog food provider about organic dog food and if there is none available at your local shop, try to order it online. There are many web sites that offer such foods at fairly decent prices.

One last bit, be very, very careful with dried dog food like biscuits, no matter what the label says. I used to have a dog called Becky that stayed at home alone during the day, while I went to work. I didn’t like to leave tinned food, because of flies, bacteria and vermin, so I bought dry food, which would not deteriorate during the day. However, within six years she had contracted diabetes, which meant that I had to inject her with insulin every morning. The veterinary said that it was very common for dogs fed only on dry biscuits to contract diabetes, so check with your vet first of all or feed organic tinned food.

We all love our dogs, don’t we? We love to give them a little delicacy sometimes as well. Some dogs are so charming when they beg for a bit of what you are eating, but the fact is that some foods that are alright for us to eat are not so good for dogs. This ought not come as much of a surprise as you would almost certainly be quite ill too if you ate a half-rotten rat that you found in the hedgerow.

The most common human food that will kill your dog is chocolate or more precisely the theobromine in the chocolate. Some chocolate has more theobromine in it than others. For example, white chocolate has only 1 mg of theobromine per 28 g (1 oz) whereas baking chocolate has 450 mg per 28 g.

So how much theobromine does it take to poison a dog? Well, the answer to that depends on various considerations like age and health but most importantly the weight of the dog. Let us say that an average, knee-high, collie-type dog weighs 20 kilos (about 45 lbs.), then it would take about 250 kg (560 lbs) of white chocolate to hurt him, but he probably would have exploded by then anyway having eaten 12.5 times his body weight in foodstuff.

However, the picture changes quickly when we examine other kinds of chocolate. It would take about 1.5 kg (3 lbs) of milk chocolate to have the same effect and about a third of that in sweet cacao or half-a-kilo (1 lb). The most hazardous substance is baking chocolate. It only takes just over 100g or four and a half ounces of baking chocolate to give a medium sized dog life threatening complications.

Therefore, the biggest danger would be of a dog eating a chocolate cake with chocolate icing or topping. Children are the worst, albeit innocent, culprits: they often give dogs cake at gatherings and it is one to look out for.

So, what should you do if your dog eats chocolate? It depends on the quantity and the quality and your dog. The safest thing would be to take him to the vet as soon as possible, but if you are confident you could wait for symptoms like vomitting, diarrhea, twitching, seizure, palpitations or undue wetting.

Theobromine attacks a dog’s central nervous system so not all dogs will react in the same way, but you will definitely discern that your dog is perplexed, befuddled and distraught.

If you make your mind up to take care of your dog yourself, the first thing you should do is induce vomitting all the while comforting your dog. A 3% solution of hydrogen peroxide should do the trick. Give your dog a teaspoon full if it is under 10 kg and a tablespoon if it is over 10 kg. Administer every 15 minutes until it takes effect. After this, try to get some activated carbon into him to soak up any residual poison. Follow the directions on the box.

If you live miles from anywhere or you think that your dog is at high risk (the school holiday season is the worst), you could get a pet’s first aid box from your vet. They are not dear and have a long shelf life and you will not be caught out if someone feeds your dog chocolate.

Owen Jones, the writer of this piece writes on many subjects, but is at present involved with researching What to do if your dog eats chocolate.

Dogs are great pets to have. They are so loyal and loving that they are the most popular pet t hat people keep. This is true worldwide.

For most pet owners that love is reciprocal. When you love your dog the way it loves you, you want it to be happy and have fun. This is where dog toys come in.

Your local pet store will have a host of products that can fit the bill. Dogs love playing with toys, especially if you are not there and they are looking for something to do. Try the following dog gifts, widely available at pet shops across the country:

Does your dog sleep inside your house? Or even on your bed? This isn’t uncommon, especially if the dog is a smaller dog. Even the best-trained dog will sometimes revert back to its natural behaviors though, and there can be ‘accidents’ on floors or even beds and sofas.

Rather than risking that, why not make sure your pet has their own place to sleep? There are beds for every price point, every size dog, and every comfort level. You can even buy an orthopedic bed for elderly or disabled dogs.

Your dog probably likes to play with you; most dogs love to play with their owners. If you have a playful dog, you have probably played fetch until you thought you would scream. Why play fetch until you are miserable and frustrated when you could have an automatic ball thrower play your part in the game.

You can buy a ball thrower in just about any shape and size. Consider also that a ball thrower helps keep your dog in shape since it means the dog is chasing balls and running after them all day long.

You maybe will want to consider a dog flap. This is similar to a cat flap, basically it lets the dog let themselves in and out of your house.

You can get a dog flap in various sizes. Some models even have enhanced security. You can have a flap that will prevent a different animal – domestic or next-door – from coming into your home.

Dogs are like people in some ways. One thing they have in common with us is that sometimes they have medical emergencies. Your dog’s natural curiosity can lead it into danger and that is not good. If your dog gets into trouble, it will need you to help out.

There are basic supplies you can keep on hand that can make a big difference when your dog has an emergency. If something bad happens, your dog may need you to provide emergency care until you can get him to the vet.

Definitely include gauze and tape in the medical kit. These are excellent for slowing or stopping bleeding. If you shop around you can often find blood-clotting topical products too.

Hydrogen peroxide is a good option for cleaning your dog’s wounds. If your dog starts going into shock you need to keep him warm, so an old blanket is very useful. You also want to stock an antihistamine for bee or wasp sting emergency, antibiotic gel, and eye wash. Other basic supplies to keep around are cotton, safety scissors, tweezers, rectal thermometer, needle-less syringes for oral medication, and elastic bandages.

It’s a good idea to learn basic first aid. That is true even if you don’t have a dog at home. Also, make sure that your vet’s phone number is handy. You don’t want to fumble with a phone book during an emergency. Ask your vet what to do in case a medical emergency comes up in the middle of the night.

Often a vet will have instructions on how to reach him after hours. Also, some cities have pet emergency centers. If yours has one, it’s good to keep their number in your kit as well.

Your dog may snap or bite at you if he is hurt or scared, even if he normally would never dream of biting you under normal circumstances. Consider keeping a muzzle in your emergency kit.

Don’t give your dog Tylenol. It’s not safe. Instead, ask your vet what painkiller to keep on hand in case your dog needs pain management, and put this medicine into your kit.

The writer also often publishes articles about products including granite sink and double kitchen sinks.

As a dog owner, we love pampering our little pooches with a variety of people food that we can find in the fridge. They really do appreciate the effort (and the taste for sure), but there are just some foods that their body cannot take.

Chocolate, coffee and tea are not healthy for Fido. In fact, anything that contains caffeine could be fatal to your dog. It has a substance called theobromine that could affect the nervous system, causing cardiac arrest.

Caffeine isn’t the only thing you shouldn’t give your dog though. Another less obvious food to avoid is plums and grapes. An unknown toxin within these two fruits can cause severe kidney damage to your pet, and should be avoided at all costs.

An important point to keep in mind is that dogs and cats are different, as are their foods. Cat food contains more protein and fats than dog food, and this could cause a large array of illnesses in the near future if your dog consumes it.

Like grapes, experts still do not know what it is with macadamia nuts that cause bad effects for dogs. Intake of this could lead to malfunctions in the digestive and nervous system. On top of that, it also negatively affects the muscles.

Many dogs have allergies that you should know about, particularly from products containing wheat. Most dog food brands come with a wheat-free dog food so that your dog can eat without suffering adverse side effects.

There are other types of food that are not healthy for your dog. If you think that something could cause obstruction, such as fish scraps and small bones, don’t give it to your four legged friend.

The foods listed above are just samples of what you could potentially find in your kitchen that you did not know could be harmful to your dog.

Puppies are probably one of the cutest things we enjoy in life; this is especially true during their first month. Their small bodies covered in thick coats, with a look that could make your heart melt.

Puppies are probably one of the cutest things we enjoy in life; this is especially true during their first month. Their small bodies covered in thick coats, with a look that could make your heart melt.

Of course, you start singing a different tune when your puppies begin peeing and pooping on the living room floor. This is a common scenario for any dog owner, and it is important to deal with it in a calm and effective way.

Young puppies need a lot of attention and you cannot expect overnight miracles. Looking after an entire litter of puppies is going to be a stressful and challenging experience, without a doubt.

If you do not want to cry out of desperation for keeping your house clean and smelling fresh, you have to be in charge and know how to raise the puppies accordingly. This is something that some people don’t necessarily want to do, but must force themselves to carry through.

A great idea is to designate a room for just the puppies, and only the puppies. This could be a spare bedroom or laundry room – just make sure you take everything out and cover the floor with newspaper. This will ensure you only have one area to clean up, and that the whole house doesn’t get destroyed.

Now, remember that puppies are like chickens – everything they take in goes out within the first few minutes. As soon as your puppies take their meals, you need to bring them where you want them to poop. A few minutes after eating, they would be pooping and peeing and they don’t care where.

At least there are no mysteries when it comes to this, it is an obvious part of the puppies system. Make sure you control when and where they are feed so you can control the flow at the other end.

This might take most of your patience but don’t worry, all of it will disappear as soon as they start looking at you with pleading puppy eyes. Now, you might want to keep all of them just because of that.

Every pet owner wants to pick the best pet food for their pet. Studies show that the right pet food is essential in helping your pet live a full, happy life. Never pick a pet food just because the animal on the package looks happy. You always want to make sure that you have the right pet food for your particular pet.

The very first thing you should do is take your pet to a good veterinarian. A good veterinarian is invaluable in determining the best healthy pet food for your pet. They can evaluate your pets over-all health and determine what type of food will be most essential for your animal. They will probably give you a list of criteria to consider and maybe even several suggestions on brands or types, so take the time to do your research.

The first thing to determine is how much you are willing to spend. Pick the maximum you want to budget for this expenditure and begin looking in that range. Keep in mind that when it comes to healthy pet food, cheap really does equal poor quality, so spend as much as you can afford to give your pet a healthy diet.

Once you determine how much you are willing to spend, you should start paying attention to ingredients. Never buy pet food that has filler or meat by-products in its first three ingredients. These slots should only be filled with actual meat products.

Chemicals and preservatives are not good for your pets. Never feed your pets a food that has more lab- made products than natural ones.

Of course, the absolute best kind of pet food is always organic. Organic food will contain no chemicals, preservatives, or meat by-products. Only foods found in nature will make it into your pets bowl or dish. Ignore the hype of the other brands, organic is always the healthiest option out there.

There is a lot of trial and error that goes into finding the healthiest pet food. Between you and your veterinarian you should be able to eventually determine the healthiest diet for your pet. It is important to have your pet evaluated a few months after they begin eating a new food. You can track your pets progress since their last evaluation, and determine if the pet food you picked is truly their healthiest option.

If you are in the market for puppy play pen be sure to browse this latest web site. She has also published a report on sourcing fantastic stainless steel bowls
