One of the most popular family dogs today is the Golden Retriever. They are loyal, affectionate, intelligent, and are good around children. A family setting is perfect for this breed of dog and they thrive on being around people. They are active dogs, and with the right Golden Retriever puppy training, you give them a chance to show how well mannered and friendly they can be.

Puppies need training; it is an essential part of their happiness and the happiness of the household. Since Golden Retrievers are willing and intelligent, they’re capable of learning quickly. At an early age your puppy will be eager to please you, and a positive training experience will encourage him and make things easier.

Before you begin training, you need to know what kind of method you are going to use. You will need to be clear in the commands you use and consistent. If you are not consistent, then the obedience you are looking for is not going to come. Puppies need clear commands to give them an understanding of how to please you, because at this stage that is all they want to really do.

Training is needed as soon as you bring the puppy home. The younger they are, the more they are willing to learn. They will be focusing on you for the most part and taking them trough a daily routine will make them feel comfortable from the beginning. Showing them where their food and water is and feeding them at the same times each day helps set up the routine. Also having a place for them to sleep and showing them where it is necessary.

Part of the training will be the rules of the house. They’ll be like children, and like children they need certain rules to follow. Making it clear what is right and wrong in the home will be necessary. This can achieved with plenty of encouragement and praise to help them understand the rules and how to please you.

House training is something that needs to be started immediately also. The first thing to pay attention to is the signs that he needs to relieve himself. They may sniff around or circle the floor, looking for a place to go. Normally about twenty to thirty minutes after they have eaten they’re ready, so watch carefully at that time for the signals.

Crate training may be a method you’ll want to look into to help with house training. A crate is able to help do that and also gives them a safe place to go when they feel stressed or need time to themselves. This method requires the right sized crate for your puppy. He’ll need to be able to move around, stand up, turn, and lie down. It is recommended that a crate is not used for punishment though; it will make your puppy unhappy and will not give you the desired effects you are looking for.

Having a loyal, affectionate family pet can bring a lot of joy and happiness into the home. Golden Retriever puppy training is necessary to make sure that you raise a friendly, well mannered, and happy pet. With the good temperament and loving, eager nature of Golden Retrievers, they are considered the best family pet to have.

Let's face the facts, your dog's breath can get to be really smelly. But, it's no surprise since dogs can't brush their teeth!

Most dogs aren’t known for their pleasant smelling breath. Of course, it’s no wonder because they can’t actually brush their teeth!

Taking the right care of your pets teeth is needed to battle bad dog breath, however a current study shows that there might be even more important benefits – ones that may be important to the life of your pet.

Done at Purdue University by Dr. Larry Glickman the study included the records of over 100,000 dogs. This study included a group that had periodontal disease and an equal size group that did not. It was discovered that there is a statistical link between dogs with gum disease and dogs with heart disease.

The largest connection was with a kind of heart disease known as endocarditis or heart valve inflammation. It was noticed that 0.01 percent of dogs with NO gum disease had heart valve inflammation where 0.15 percent of those with gum disease did have heart valve inflammation.

So, you see it’s important to have a good dog dental program so as to keep your dog happy and healthy.

So, how do you give your dog terrific dental care?

Needless to say, the first step is ensuring that your dog has clean teeth. You want to attempt to brush your dogs teeth each night with dog toothpaste and a dog toothbrush. It’s good to get in the habit of brushing on a daily basis. Daily brushing will aid in reducing tartar buildup and stave off gum disease.

If your dog already has high levels of tarter build up, then you may want to get him to the veterinarian for a dental scaling. This dental procedure is a lot like a cleaning you get at the dentist and involves scraping or scaling the plaque from your dogs teeth..

You can also get dog chews and treats that will assist with your dog dental program. Look for toys like nylabones that are made to help scrape the plaque from teeth. Other treats are created to help with dog breath, especially the Greenies that are made for good canine dental health.

Your dogs ongoing good health depends on good dental care. Surplus tarter and plaque can cause bacteria to be present in your dogs system and this can lead to disease in any major organ.

Giving your dog excellent dental care can help him live a long and healthy life. It simply takes a few moments each day – isn’t your dog worth that much?.

Next, find out more about dog dental care and get tips on brushing your dogs teeth and how to avoid bad dog breath.

Are you getting a new dog? Have you thought about all the training you are going to need to stay on top to have the behavior that will be acceptable in your home from a dog? Training a new dog, especially a puppy, is going to require a lot of your time and patience. However, it is all worth every second for the bond that is formed between you and your pet. One way to effectively train a dog or pup is with dog crate training.

Introducing a crate to your new dog is going to be one of those times you will need to as gentle and loving as possible. If you have adopted an adult dog, keep in mind entering a crate may be something new to him. He might even have had a terrible experience with and another owner. If he seems over anxious about entering it, no matter what you try, talk to your vet about other methods. Puppies, however, need to crate trained right away.

How long should you keep a pup in a crate? Most professional trainers recommend never more than a couple of hours at a time. Your timing can be paced by how long your pup sleeps during naps. As soon as awakes from a nap, time is up for the crate. This is also the time you should take him outside for potty duty.

Adult dogs will need less time in a crate, especially those that are being house trained with one. Adult dogs have better control over their bladders than pups do, so outdoor trips will be fewer. Stress to adult dogs that the crate is for rest and pleasure time with food and treat reinforcements. You want him to look forward to his crate and eventually want to go in it on his own.

While training an adult dog or a puppy to be house broken, you should always remember to never use the crate as punishment for accidents. If you scold your dog and place him inside the crate, he will begin to associate the crate with negative feelings. If he does have an accident, gently scold him and take him outside right then.

One way to ensure your dog knows his crate is good place is to feed him right next to it. You might also put some treats inside it as well. This also helps with house training using a crate because even pups do not like soiling the area near to where they eat or sleep. You can use dividers in crate for small pups to keep their space the size it needs to be for effective house training.

Emphasizing to your dog that his crate is his den can be done with his feed bowl. Each time you put him in it, put his food bowl in as well. Start with placing it at the front and each time, move it back a bit until finally it is going all the way at the back. Close the door every time and let him remain inside the crate for about ten minutes after finishing his meal. Let him out then to go outside. This will slowly show him his crate is his place and it is not bad.

Dog crate training is a great way to also lessen the incidents of chewed up valuable items in your house. If you must run errands or leave your home for a few hours, placing a dog in a crate is acceptable to keep him from chewing up things to satisfy separation anxiety over you not being there. If your dog shows signs of severe anxiety and violently tries to escape the crate, an animal behavioral professional may be the best medicine. If you are going to be gone longer than a few hours from your home, find other means of containing a dog. Hiring a pet sitter would be a good idea.

It is hard to teach old dogs new tricks and so one ought to start house training a puppy at an early age when he is most open to learning the correct actions and be taught how to co-exist with his owner. You will need to be patient as well as give your pet a lot of praise before it learns how not to soil the interiors of the house. No doubt, owning a pet can be rewarding and fun; but, you do need to train it so that it does not do its business inside the home therefore not only soiling your luxurious carpets, and furniture, but also leaving a evil pong that will be hard to get free off.

The initial point that anybody who wants to house train a dog needs is a lot of patience as well as a cool head. This is required because your puppy might not learn instantly the system to track. It might be quite a job house training a dog and you will need to teach it where to eliminate which requires you to reward your puppy when it does the proper thing.

It is also frequently the case that your puppy may well have a stubborn character and is tenacious as well as independent which makes house training your dog tricky. In those cases, you have to let the puppy know just who the leader of the pack is and also requires encouraging as well as continual scheduling. On the other hand, the dog could be of a type that is quite little and will easily hide under furnishings or get into corners where it won’t be noticed and soil while out of view.

You ought to remember to try out separate house training a puppy techniques including crate training as well as paper or pet pad train the puppy. Whichever is the system you select, remember to be regular because if the puppy develops bad behavior it will only become that much more difficult to break in the dog once more.

When you start the process of house training a puppy you can also keep a chronicle of the dog’s daily activities so that you know of its custom, which will include a time to feed it, and a time for it to relieve itself, which will help in setting a example for it to follow. Constancy in such cases will result in quick turn around times and the dog will soon become used to and conscious of these routines and thus free you of the apprehension of it soiling your house.

Some people want to get pets as their companion. Living in a house will never really be any good if you will not have someone to be with. Of course, the most popular companion of people is the four-legged, furry dogs. If you are a new dog owner, you have to see to it that he or she will be kept in place especially when your dog is still a puppy. They could get really rowdy all of the time and before you can even stop them, they might ruin your furniture and other important things around the house. Get the dog harness and basically, the dog will be in place.

But of course it is important that you also see to it that the dog is kept healthy. You need to play with it every once in a while. Just keeping a dog around will already teach you the things that it will need.

What many people do not know though is that there are a lot of benefits that you could get from having a dog. The very first of those is of course having a companion. How many times have you seen a man or a woman take a stroll in the park and tagging their pet dogs along? Dogs are especially good at keeping you company. Although they do not talk, they can do things that will keep the boredom away.

Dogs are very good defenders too. Some keep dogs, keep the dog harness on, and just let them around the house to keep bad men from entering. Just one bark and it could scare anyone off. There are dog breeds that are really good at defending things. Some dogs are also bred to be part of the canine team, those that are helpful in search and rescue operations and for detecting chemicals and other harmful substances.

Also, dogs are very loyal. Even if you get too old or vice versa, the dogs will still choose to be with you. This trait is very unique to dogs they say. They get much attached to their masters that there are even those who trade their lives for their masters. These are extreme stories but you know that dogs, when loved and cared for will return the favor in ways you will never be able to detect.

Dogs are good exercise buddies as well. There are a lot of training gyms that now encourage both owners and pets to exercise together. If you are one who loves running too, you can take the dog with you and simply want to beat him on the track. They are excellent players of games so you can do sports or whatever fitness activity with them.

Lastly, dogs have this therapeutic effect. Studies that were conducted have proven that patients who have friendly dogs around tend to be happier and that takes their system to work normally thus they recover sooner. They also say that if you own a dog, you will add ten years into your life. They are very good at keeping you healthy and happy.

So you will enjoy all of these benefits. Take that dog for some tender loving care, go out and never forget about the dog harness. You will love the dog so much and it will do the same to you.

If you wish to keep your dog in place and tamed to become friendly as friendly as you want it to be try using a dog harness on your dog to have them also in place while you are away.

Making sure that your dogs are comfortable is something. They say that most of the pet lovers these days are going overboard right now. Well there is that need to make sure that you will let these canine do their thing, have their way of life like real kids do. There are schools for them and they are certainly not like your average students.

Just a few days back, there were news stories that talked about Conchita, the chihuahua who was inherited millions of dollars when her owner died. You could probably say that this is one lucky dog and there is no way that you will be able to do the same for your dog. But then, you know that this is never really the kind of thing that your dog needs. Aside from you caring and feeding for your dog, the little things would count as good as the millions that Cochita got. For instance, you get these padded dog harness so that your dogs will not have strained muscles from a long ride or a long walk in the park.

Why do you need to do this for your dog? Well, obviously if you were in your dog’s shoes, you would want to be comfortable. The usual type of harness could never really do them any good. There are dogs who would suffer from back pains or some scratch in their skin due to the material that was used in the harness.

If it were you, you would also have to suffer the consequences of being in one tight and uncomfortable harness right? Your dogs have feelings too, they have the nerves to feel that the harness is already causing their skin to break or their muscles to get really tight and achy. The padded dog harness is especially designed so your dogs will not have to suffer any of these problems.

Now, walking in the park will never be that tough on them. You do not have to see them with all of these things blisters and never with all of the pain in the back again. You have to be kind to your friends you know. But aside from that, here are other essentials for your dogs:

	A good shampoo. Flea and ticks might harm your dogs and you will never really want them scratching all over their bodies just so they could have that relieved feeling. The fleas are not good and thankfully, a good shampoo and a regular bath is all that is needed to take them out of the picture.
	Recommended dog diet. They have to eat nutritious food as well. Your vets would have that assessed. There are dogs that need extra nutrition, something caused by pedigree. You have to feed them the right thing so they would grow really strong.
	A safe place to stay at. Some dogs are afraid of thunder, lightning and other things. If you can keep your dogs from staying in the house, then find him or her good place to stay at, somewhere that is safe and comfortable enough.

And of course never forget about the padded dog harness. So you can go to the park as carefree and comfortable as possible.

It is really important to have padded dog harness so that your dogs will not have strained muscles from a long ride or a long walk in the park. You will definitely find the widest array of choices for it online at half the cost.

A reputable dog obedience training program, created by a top dog trainer, not only uses gentle and humane dog training tips, but it stresses the importance of puppy socialization. Wolves live in family units, for hunting success and safety. Your dog, a descendent of the wolf, seeks that same sense of safety and familiarity.

Your dog’s ancestors were, indeed, predators, but they weren’t invincible. Especially when separated from their packs, they were vulnerable in unfamiliar situations that included unknown creatures and landscapes. This fear was necessary for survival, and lives on in modern dogs.

This instinct has carried over to modern times, in our dogs’ fears of strangers and unfamiliar venues. Often, because dogs aren’t comfortable in those unfamiliar situations, their fears can manifest as aggression.

For these reasons, not excluding the safety of your family, neighbors, other dogs, and your own dog, it’s important to start socializing your puppy as early as possible.

Starting at the age of eight weeks, and through her sixteenth week, your puppy is the most impressionable. A conscientious dog owner will grasp this brief chance to introduce the world to his or her puppy, to prove that the world is an exciting place, worthy of confident exploration.

When you picture your life with your adult dog, what do you see? Whatever activities you desire, do those things with your puppy, plus more. Here are a few suggestions:

Expose your puppy to children, so that she can learn to view their quick movements and shrill voices as nonthreatening.

Take your puppy for rides in the car.

Walk her on nature trails, where she’ll see squirrels, birds, etc.

Introduce her to other dogs. Dog parks and dog obedience training schools are terrific ways to accomplish this.

Frequent city sidewalks. Give your puppy the chance to develop a tolerance for loud engines, horns, cyclists, pedestrians, and other walking dogs.

Visit the vet, the groomer, the pet retailer, and the kennel so that your puppy can familiarize herself with the smells, sounds, and sights of these places.

Know where, in your town, welcome mats are put out for dogs. Often, banks, pet stores, and hardware stores will welcome your puppy. Give your puppy plenty of time to meet and greet, and get treats from, the proprietors and patrons of these establishments.

Use clicker training to reward her most confident behavior, despite sharp noises, quick children, and unfamiliar dogs.

If your puppy is frightened by a noise or a strange dog or human, ignore her fear. If you reassure her, she’ll mistake that reassurance for reward of her fearful behavior. Disregard this behavior, and save the rewards for the time when she sheds the fearful display.

Don’t force a puppy to take part in a scenario that is causing fear. Instead, talk to the stranger, or stand tall in the face of a noisy motor, and she will take a cue from you. When she finally does relax and join in, click and offer a reward.

Often, dog owners aren’t able to find the time or the physical energy to get their puppies out into the world. In these cases, it’s important that these dog owners invite visitors to their homes to meet their puppies, and that they hire a dog walker or top dog trainer to escort the puppy on jaunts around the great wide world. If these measures aren’t taken, the puppy will grow to be a reclusive dog who is fearful of visitors, vet visits, etc.

Every time you take your puppy for a ride, or a walk, or meander through a crowd of people with her, she’s gaining the confidence that’s necessary to be a calm, friendly adult dog.

You know how it feels to walk into a party full of people you don’t know. It can be disconcerting, and can cause anxiety. Your dog experiences these same feelings in unfamiliar situations, so make it your mission to introduce your puppy to the world, early on. Your dog obedience training success, and your dog human relationship, will thank you.

Most courses in dog training endeavor to help participating individuals to gain a better understanding of dogs. It is a top priority of these trainings to aid people in appreciating the many varied professional dog training methods.

There are many methods that can be used in dog training. Among these are using treats, clicker training, whistles, voice activation and the use of non-treat training.

Individuals who undertake courses in dog training get to appreciate work, agility and obedience in its most basic form. Specialized training areas include guide dogs, law enforcement, hunting, security and search & rescue. Since time immemorial, dogs have been known to be pack animals.

Dogs being pack animals means that the training aims to have individuals ascend the hierarchy to become leaders of the pack. This approach is unique in the sense that students of dog training can handle not only their own dog, but also other dogs. Individuals are thus taught how to handle a dog which they don’t own and pass this skill to other dog owners.

Communication is an important part of learning how to become a dog trainer. A properly run training school or course will show you how to communicate with customers easily and help them understand what to do and how to work with their dogs.

The most widely used training technique in most training schools for dogs is the reward based program. A dog is rewarded anytime it does well. Other dog training schools use non treat programs. This basically means that you praise your dog for behaving well.

A dog training school or class will teach you many things. These include pulling on the lead, through to working your dog off lead. The dog training courses also usually cover how to make a dog stop jumping up or how to quiet it when barking.

The obedience courses cover the basics. Once the basics have been mastered, you can then move on to the advanced training which involves things like controlling your dog from a distance using hand signals and walking your dog off lead under complete control.

Therefore, the main priority in dog training schools or courses is to teach you how to become the pack leader and have full control of your dog and to teach other people to do the same with their dogs.

If you love dogs, you could consider a dog training career. Find out more about how going on a residential dog training course can get you started.

Training your very own dog is a long and difficult process, this is mainly due to the fact that your dogs do not understand what you want them to do, no matter how much they actually want to please you! They also generally have very short attention span, which make the task even harder especially if you’re doing it for the very first time. Before you call it quits, consider having some basic training aids to help you.

Instead of punishing your dog every time they fail to perform a task that you ask, why not try the reward model instead? This can be done by having a reward in place every time they do something that you ask, whether potty training or simple training, rewarding them accordingly is can increase their affection and reinforce their behavior, rather than punishing them which sometimes can have more negative effects than positive ones. Include this positive reinforcement as part of your do training and you’ll soon see the results you want!

Items and tools for dog training can come in many forms, and some of them are actually not too suitable for dog training. Choke collar, chains are actually quite counterproductive and can be viewed as abusive when it comes to dog training, instead consider just buying a sturdy collar and leash that does not harm your dog when you want them to stop barking. Slight tug will served as a reminder, instead of the abusive choke collar when you want them to stop doing certain actions.

Another effective training items that goes along well with the positive reinforcement model for dog training includes grooming brush and toys, because your dog really love to be pampered by you the owner and enjoy this as much as snacks.

Finally, if you view dog training as a boot camp or discipline training for your dog, then you want to reconsider the view. It should be as fun as it gets and more of a relationship bonding instead, gaining affection and loyalty of the dog is part of it and you will never get a more satisfying feeling that that.

Some new puppy owners think that their puppy knows how to sit stay fetch and do other things they think are easy. But a puppy doesn’t know what these words mean, you need to teach them. It is not hard, below you will find easy ways to teach your puppy these commands.

Sometimes it’s fun to watch new puppy parents kneeling in front of their new pup saying, sit, come on sit, oh please sit. Puppies do not know what the words sit stay fetch or what other words mean unless they are taught to know, that is part of dog training for dummies. The first thing you need to remember is that all dogs still have the basic instinct of the pack where one dog was always in charge. You need to be the one in charge and sit stay fetch will not be so hard..

When you want to teach your puppy to sit you must first make eye contact. If they are standing great, if not get them to stand up gently. Put your hand on their bottom and with very little pressure push down and say sit. Keep doing this it will take time. You can try putting one hand behind their back legs and gently push in while saying sit, do this over and over until either both of you are exhausted or they get it. If they do it once keep repeating and praising them, do this for sit stay fetch and any other command and it will work.

When you are teaching your pup how to stay you may it a little harder, after all they want to follow you around all the time. For this you must start with very small steps, have your dog sit and face them, say stay when you put your hand in front of their nose. Take one step back and still keep your hand in front of their nose say stay again. Praise them if they do this, if not try again and again. They will get better at sit stay fetch with practice.

The hardest command from sit stay fetch, has got to be fetch. There are dogs who will never run after what you throw no matter how hard you try, even if you throw their favorite toy they will just not go and get it and bring it back. You can try showing them what it is like by playing with another dog, this usually works. Remember not all dogs learn sit stay fetch at the same pace so have patience.

Jill Krackenburg loves training dogs! You can learn what she knows about indoor dog potty and off leash dog training.
